THE OBSESSION

When we moved down here Carter made friends with a little boy next door named Keanu. Their back yard does not have any grass and so it has turned into the best play area for my kids. It all started with Grandpa Brad giving Carter a magnifying glass and telling him about his childhood and how he used to use a magnifying glass to burn bugs - mostly ants. This sparked a great interest in Carter and finding ants to burn and because Keanus yard is not finished, there are all sorts of bugs for little boys to find. They have taken interest in a red ant hill they found and all summer Carter, Boston and Keanu have played with red ants, and of coarse Boston is the only one that has come home with red ant bites all over his legs yet he is out there playing with them the very next day. It changes all the time, some times they are trying to kill the ants and yet at other times Carter is asking me if we have any food that red ants would like.

He went to a birthday party of a little boy in are ward a few months ago and came home with a balloon, within seconds he was over with Keanu seeing how many ants they could get to crawl on the balloon and then let it go and see the ants fly away. Everyday and everything of these little boys revolves around these red ants and has become an obsession. He even wrote up a note and put it on our door. He said they were the bug cops and needed his note taped on the door so people would know to get ahold of him so he could get even more red ants. What funny kids:)
